Patron Accommodations
Drop off and pick up items without ever leaving your vehicle with the library’s curbside service. Search the online catalog, determine what you’d like to borrow and call 785-238-4311 to place your order for books, audiobooks, and DVDs. A staff member will return your call within 24 hours and let you know when your items are ready. When you arrive for pick up, call us at the same number and let us know you’re here, where you’re parked and what you’re driving. Please park as close to the building as possible. In the same call, let us know if you have any items to return. A staff member will be there soon!
Patrons who are either temporarily or permanently unable to drive or walk to the library can have materials delivered to their door. Interested patrons can call the library’s adult reference desk and work with the answering staff member to complete a short form about his/her reading interests. A volunteer will then make deliveries to the patron’s home or designated front desk location such as at Brookdale Senior Living and Tallgrass Senior Center.

Patrons seeking an item that is checked out, ordered but not yet available, or currently unable to be located within the library can place their name on a waiting list to reserve it. Once the item becomes available a staff member will call or email to let the patron know it is being held for them. Items will be held for 5 days before they are returned to the shelf or passed along to the next person on the reserve list.
Patrons will be notified of overdue materials. Materials not returned by the end of the notification period are presumed lost and patrons will be billed for the replacement costs of the items and a transaction fee. Should the bill go unanswered, such accounts will be submitted for collection. By city ordinance, materials not returned or paid for will be considered stolen.
Charges for lost or seriously damaged materials will include the replacement cost of the item plus processing. The charge for minor damage will be the cost of the repair, rebinding and/or reprocessing. Patron-purchased copies of lost or damaged items will not be accepted without prior approval and a reprocessing fee will be charged for any approved purchases.
Mobile Hotspot lending is subject to additional conditions and limitations. See additional policies here.
