Other Events
Reading Programs
The winter and summer reading programs are held each year. They provide incentives for children and teens to practice their reading skills and win prizes while they do it! Print books, eBooks and audiobooks (disc or digital) all count toward the reading goals. Participants can either register and record their titles in paper format or online.
Bookmark Contest
Artists of all ages can share their talent with readers throughout our community! The library sponsors the contest each spring and invites community members to create bookmarks based on the theme of the upcoming summer reading program. First, second and third place winners are awarded in each of the ten age categories. The first-place winning bookmarks are distributed to participants who enroll in Summer Reading and their creators are awarded with a small prize package that includes a pack of their bookmarks to give to friends and family. All winners are publicly recognized when the reading program launches. Click here for contest entry form.
Author Days
Author Days are about appreciating the writers who inspire and teach us! We show our appreciation of children's authors by reading their work and sharing it with a friend. Come to the Young People's Department to grab a fun take-and-make craft bag with activities celebrating a different author’s birthday every month.
Annual and Special Events
In addition to the regular programs that are held each semester, there are annual events for children and families. The American Girl Tea Party, Touch-a-Truck, and a Christmas Program are all held once a year. We also hold special events that can always be found in a copy of our current brochure. All are designed to mix learning and fun into programs the whole family can enjoy!
Storywalk
Take a walk through Homer’s Pond and read a story at the same time. Pages from popular children’s storybooks will appear along the trail. Story walk runs from March to December and will feature a new title each month!
